Here is a white paper from Beck's Hybrids on prepping your combine & corn head for down crop. Some modifications or settings and some cases both can make a heart breaking situation salvageable. In my honest opinion, header height sensors, roller cones, and a reel can make the biggest impact on picking up down corn. Far as a brand of corn head, my personal experience comes from using a Drago corn head on our own operation and have found others and ourselves who use this brand to be extremely effective to use in down corn without a reel.
